South Korea-based Samsung Group’s Galaxy Note 7 devices – which are known to spontaneously combust and catch fire – are now banned from airline flights within, to, and from the United States.
In a statement, Samsung said that it has “encouraged airlines to issue similar communications directly to passengers.” Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones were also banned from the airplanes of FedEx, UPS, and the United States Postal Service. Meanwhile, FedEx ground collections are highly restricted. Samsung has offered a full refund for affected customers plus a $100 credit for customers who would prefer to buy another Samsung phone.
