Fairview Elementary School 6th Grade Students Rock their Distracted Driving Awareness Campaign
Distracted driving is a national epidemic that has grown in recent years with the increased use of technology and mobile devices in vehicles. In the process of changing their music, searching the internet, making phone calls, and texting, drivers cause collisions that often result in serious injuries and even fatalities. In order to raise awareness of this deadly problem and promote conscientious and distraction-free driving, the attorneys at McCutchen Sexton Napurano – The Law Firm have implemented an anti-distracted driving campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of texting and talking while driving and to encourage both drivers and passengers to take an active part in ending this deadly epidemic.
In an effort to raise awareness for this cause, the attorneys at McCutchen Sexton Napurano – The Law Firm challenged the 6th graders at Fairview Elementary School in Fort smith to make anti-distracted driving posters and seek out signatures from drivers that pledged to protect lives by never texting or talking while driving, to speak out as a passenger when they witness distracted driving, and to encourage friends and family to drive distraction-free. For their efforts, the best posters won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and received prices for their excellent work. The first place winner, Audrey Summerhill, won an iPad and will have her anti-distraction poster design on a billboard starting in May. Coming in second place was Emma Black who received a $100 Walmart gift card and Zahriese Robinson in third with a $50 Walmart gift card. In addition, Mr. Cohen’s class obtained the most pledges from licensed drivers to drive distraction-free, and won a pizza party for their admirable efforts.
The extraordinary work of these bright kids demonstrates the dedication and care of our youth concerning such serious subjects as distracted driving. Seeing their passion when working with these projects provides hope for the future in the way drivers interact with their electronic devices and shows the positive impact that programs like these can make in bringing greater awareness to important social issues like distracted driving. Congratulations to the students of Fairview Elementary as they embark on their journey of making the world a safer and better place.
This fall, McCutchen Sexton Napurano – The Law Firm will launch an anti-distracted driving campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the serious dangerous of distracted driving, including talking / texting while driving, and encouraging both drivers and passengers to do what they can to end the dangerous practice of driving while distracted. As part of this campaign, McCutchen Sexton Napurano – The Law Firm is encouraging drivers to print out and sign this pledge, stating that the signer pledges to:
- Protect lives by never texting or talking on the phone while driving
- Be a good passenger and speak out if the driver in the car is distracted
- Encourage friends and family to drive phone-free
We urge everyone to print out this pledge, sign it, and encourage their friends and family to do the same, so we can all do our part to keep our roadways safe.
